This probiotic mix is designed for seniors. Probiotics are viable bacteria. We have been consuming large amounts of bacteria in fermented foods such as beer, cheese or yogurt since time immemorial. For good survival of the bacteria in the acidic environment of the stomach, this product contains Pro-Motor. The recommended daily dose is 2 capsules per day, with a maximum dose of 4 capsules per day (for a short period only). The added Pro-Motor eliminates the need for pre-soaking.

You can simply add the contents of the capsule to lukewarm liquid such as water, yogurt or milk. Stir briefly and drink immediately. Preferably on an empty stomach. Because of the added Pro-Motor, the bacteria in Orthiflor 50+ are resistant to the acidic environment in the stomach and have a good survival in the gut.

Suggested use
The recommended dosage is 2 capsules per day. The maximum dosage is 4 capsules per day, for a short period of time, unless otherwise advised. Do not exceed the maximum daily dosage. Add the contents of the capsules to lukewarm water or skimmed milk, yogurt drink, lemonade (syrup) at room temperature, stir and drink preferably on an empty stomach. Keep out of reach of children. A dietary supplement cannot replace a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle.

It is preferable to take probiotics on an empty stomach, for example just before bedtime, but any other time of the day is also acceptable. When the stomach is empty, the probiotic bacteria are present in the stomach for a shorter time and digestive juices are not yet produced. Those juices are useful for digestion, of course, but they lower the survival rate of the bacteria in the product. After taking the supplement, wait half an hour before eating, otherwise these juices will still be activated. If one time you cannot manage to take the probiotics on an empty stomach, take them at another random time.

The powdered Orthiflor products and the powder from the capsules should preferably be dissolved and stirred in lukewarm liquid (see above) before taking them. The billions of bacteria in the capsules, loose powder or pouches have been put into a kind of "hibernation state" during production that allows them to be stored for a longer period of time and need liquid to come back to life. If they were put directly into stomach acid in their "sleeping state," a large proportion of the bacteria would not survive. The bacteria also do not like cold liquid. Hand-warm liquid is preferred. If you opt for convenience and take probiotics in chewable tablets, your saliva will provide the necessary moisture.
